Customizing the chat widget

HaloDesk lets you fully customize the chat widget so it matches your brand and guides users toward the right actions.

All widget settings are managed per agent.


Chat widget content settings

You can customize the content of the chat widget, including:

  • Agent name
    The name shown at the top of the widget.

  • Welcome message
    The first message users see when they open the chat.

  • Suggested messages
    Predefined messages users can click instead of typing
    (for example: “I need help with billing”).

  • Dismissible notice
    A temporary message shown in the widget that disappears after the first customer message.

These elements help set expectations and reduce friction.


Chat widget style settings

You can customize the appearance of the widget:

  • Chatbot profile picture

  • Chat bubble icon

  • Primary color

  • Bubble button color

  • Header color (optional use of primary color)

These settings control how the widget looks on your website.


Previewing your changes

Changes to widget content and style:

  • Apply immediately

  • Can be previewed in the widget interface

  • Do not require reinstalling the script

This makes it easy to iterate on messaging and design.


Best practices

  • Keep welcome messages short and clear

  • Use suggested messages to guide common requests

  • Match widget colors to your brand

  • Avoid overcrowding the widget with too much text
